Developing Art provides customized art therapy and art instruction for artists of all ages and levels of experience, with a special emphasis on the aging process and those with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Simply put, Art is any discipline that we use to understand ourselves and how we relate to others. So, by definition, Art is an indispensable part of our lives. In Art Therapy we can use the power of Art as a healing method that allows us to clarify our feelings and focus our mind. Art Therapy can be a tool to understand issues and emotions that are difficult to put into words or rationalize. It can reconnect us to ourselves and the world around us.
A unique approach.
I strive to show my clients that we are equals in making art and I will often make art alongside them. In addition, during my classes and art therapy sessions I share my thoughts on Art History, the art shows I’ve seen around the St Louis area, as well as the art I’m making in my own studio.
The benefits of making art are immense
When we use our intelligence and intuition in the act of creation, it is a joyful experience. Art gives us the ability to express our thoughts and feelings exactly the way we choose. From this activity we gain a sense of control and accomplishment.
As We Age …
we all need to spend time exercising our minds, as well as our bodies. This holds true for all of us, in every walk of life. For adults living with Alzheimer’s Disease and memory loss, the art making process can create new memories and promote feelings of well being. Like meditation, it can clear our minds and calm us.
A Work of Art …
is a precious object that we can enjoy with our family and friends for all time.
